January 2008
2008 is a breakthrough year for PRINT International, as we continue our investment in technology and implementation of direct-to-press, new out of home systems, customized production workflows, internet branding services and digital flatbed printing. This past January, we have completed the addition of two of Kodak’s latest model Nexpress 2500’s to both of our NYC and Freeport LI facilities. These 14” x 20” digital presses complement our litho capabilities. We now offer our clientele brilliant color and resolution incorporating variable data, in-line booklet making and folding with an off-line glosser for overall UV-like coating. Now, in one pass, sheets are printed on a wide range of coated and uncoated papers two-sides up to 130-pound cover for even the smallest quantity. The presses can run up to 3 different stocks on a single project, which encourages creativity while remaining extremely efficient. New workflows are available utilizing automation through in-Design, Prinergy 4, Kodak DP-2 and Kodak’s Storefront portal, which make these new presses extremely exciting and user-friendly.

Images are scanned with the intent to provide clients
with maximum flexibility of usage. The digital information can
be repurposed for all CMYK pre-press and printing needs,
as well as RGB photo lab needs including duplicate digital
transparencies and large format printing or photolab products.
The images are scanned at a resolution of 20 - 40
(as high as 1000 dpi) in order to capture the necessary
digital information with the average file size at 150 Mb.
The digital prepress department analyzes the digital files and
prepares them for plate-making assuring that the final files
are color-stable and properly formatted to produce the highest
quality printed product.
The two photo studios are fully equipped with state of the art digital
equipment designed to meet the needs of a wide variety of digital photography
users. The cameras and premium lighting equipment are complemented by Macintosh
computers to provide live previews for lighting and enhanced focus previews.
The staff photographers have extensive conventional and digital photography
experience with fashion, beauty and cosmetics clients. In addition to a
photographer, a dedicated pre-press expert, with retouching experience for
high-end fashion clients and specialized color conversion technology is present
on each shoot.
Our large format digital division is one of the most diverse in the world today. As the largest consumer of digital ink in North America, we provide graphics for use in all different types of media applications. Mesh banners 20 stories high, stadium wraps, billboards, bus-sides and tails are some of the projects we produce with our roll-fed Vutek equipment which includes four 16' and two 10' eight color presses.
On our newly expanded flat-bed digital division, we are producing brilliant high fidelity graphics such as bus shelters, phone kiosks, brand trains, self-adhesive graphics for retail as well as direct printing on rigid material up to 10 feet wide and 2 inches thick.
Your project is not complete without being processed though our finishing and distribution department. Staffed with experts trained in trimming, seaming, laminating and mounting and bindery, all jobs are also quality inspected prior to shipping.
Counts are verified, color and consistency are checked and coordination between clients and selected installers and the media companies are verified.
Materials are very often shipped using our own fleet of vehicles, with immediate online tracking available. Distribution requiring online inventory maintenance, collating or assembling of different components, including parts that are manufactured in our different divisions are also completed in our Freeport facility using automated equipment to reduce normal timeframes and provide certified counts.
Durst Rho Technology
PRINT International is one of the first locations in the Northeast to offer
Durst Rho digital flatbed technology which can provide white ink capabilities
and the ability to print directly on a variety of substrates up to 1 1/2” thick
as well as printing roll to roll. This can be done in either a frontlit or
backlit mode. It utilizes U.V. inks and is excellent for outdoor signage as
well as phone kiosks, bus stop shelters, two sheet outdoor advertising and
more.
When the images demand better resolution than silk screen or if short run
quantities or personalization is an issue, the Rho technology is the answer.
RGB
PRINT International maintains full photographic display capabilities to produce
color prints, flex material (high gloss mylar paper) and display transparencies
on either clear or translucent film.
The full service mounting department is on site for all of your finishing
needs; lamination in various finishes and thicknesses; mounting on a variety of
substrates including but not limited to gatorfoam, foamcore, sintra and
acrylic.
Typical applications include:

In researching our digital photography studios, we used our relationships in the fashion, cosmetics and catalog worlds to understand the needs of the different types of digital photography
users. We determined that the Sinarcam modular digital camera system is the one that best fulfills our diverse clients’ needs, for both print and internet use.
The Sinarcam digital cameras are powered by a Scitex Leaf Volare back.
By using a three-shot capture (red, green and blue) with 14-bit technology and a 2048 x 3072 pixel CCD, the Leaf Volare is able to create non-interpolated, high-quality 24-megabyte images at 300 dpi. The Sinarcam plugs into a Macintosh and incorporates a live video preview that enables a photographer to adjust lighting and enhance focus.
The cameras are complemented by a Broncolor lighting with Grafit
power-packs. The premium lighting package is essential to insure consistency through each of the three captures. The studio can either be used with one of our staff photographers or an outside preferred digital photographer. Our staff photographers have extensive conventional and digital photography experience with fashion, beauty and cosmetics clients. In addition to a photographer, a dedicated pre-press expert is present on each shoot.
Our studio is also equiped with the latest 35mm digital single-pass
Canon camera suitable for high-end fashion, beauty and
industrial/architectural photography.
